How CRRC Is Extending Rail Technology into New Energy

In 2025, revenue from CRRC's emerging businesses exceeded RMB 86.3 billion, accounting for more than 35% of total revenue. In the first quarter of 2026, revenue from these businesses increased by 16.36% year on year.
Transferring Engineering Capabilities across Industries
One of the key characteristics of CRRC's diversification strategy is the reuse of engineering knowledge, manufacturing capabilities, and supply-chain expertise developed through its rail business.
Wind power is a notable example. Technologies associated with traction motors, power electronics, structural engineering, and operation in demanding environments have been applied to wind-turbine development and testing.

In 2026, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute introduced a new liquid-cooled energy-storage system for the European market, with higher energy density and a reduced installation footprint compared with its previous generation.
In hydrogen, CRRC has developed capabilities spanning materials, components, equipment, and complete systems. Its alkaline electrolyser products are designed to operate across a wide load range, making them suitable for use with variable renewable-energy sources such as wind and solar power.
